I am Shristi from Chakradharpur, Jharkhand. I have been accepted to study MSc in Gender and International Relations at University of Bristol for this September intake. I have applied for scholarship provided by the university but the grant isn't sufficient and I'm in need of funds for my studies. My father owns a small shop in the town and is unable to fund me fully. I applied for loans from SBI and HDFC but they rejected my loan application as we have no collateral security to provide. Belonging from the OBC community, my family and I have struggled a lot to reach up to here. Being a female students, I faced multiple hardships in a small town to get educated and pursue higher education. During COVID our family business took a hit and suffered great losses. My father had to take loans from various sources to keep food on our plates.
I was also advised to defer my admission for the year. But, on contacting the university I found out that I cannot defer for this course. I'm in a catch 22 situation and need your help to fulfill my dreams and pursue quality education. It is only after failure of all other ways that i have resorted to this fundraiser.
I have worked for a lot of humanitarian causes in the past years, taught underprivileged children, worked for female empowerment, raised awareness on quality education. I hope to keep working for my community and building a better future for generations to come but I would will be able to do it effectively only with my education.
Funds required are £20,200(fee)+£9,023(living expenses for nine months) to be shown for obtaining visa. This roughly rounds up to 29,00,000 INR. I'm hoping to arrange other funds on my own(hence, the campaign is for 10 lakhs INR).
I hope you will all pay heed to my story and help me in whatever way you can.
