    This fundraiser will benefit

    Shona Sunny

    from Ernakulam, Kerala

Shona is studying in 11 th std. When she passed out of 10 th std with 94% mark last year ,it was a proud moment for her parents.Their world was full of hopes and dreams. But things changed overnight. She was feeling very tired and had muscle pain. They took her to many hopsitals, but the doctors reassured them saying its just the growing pain and nothing to worry. But the pain was not going and one day after school she was totally exhausted and was shivering with fever. They immediately took her to hospital whrere they did a blood test. Seeing the abnormal blood counts, they asked them to take her to Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AMIS), Kochi . What was thought to be a harmless growing pain turned out to be one of the worst nightmare. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, Blood Cancer.

Shona's father , Sunny George, is working as a waiter in a hotel and her mom is a house wife. Shona is staying with her parents and grandparents in a rented house. With the money her father borrowed from his relatives and friends,  Sunny has managed to start the chemotherapy . The  estimated cost of the chemotherapy was 8 Lakhs. When three rounds of chemotherapy was done , Shona started having cough and fever  which later turned out to be fungal pneumonia. The treatment for fungal pneumonia is very expensive. Now her father is finding it dfficult to meet the daily expenses of around 16K for the medicines. Her chemotherapy is on hold now as she needs to recover from the pneumonia.

The type of Blood cancer she has got has a very good prognosis , if she gets the treatment properly. But that won't be possible without help from us. Please help Shona and her family to bring back their hopes and  smiles.
