Story

I like to call this realization of mine a "stellar dream".

After going through a very competitive process (GMAT, Applications, recommendations and interviews) and finally making it to the best universities in the world was a journey of grit and resiliency. This opportunity puts me closer to the dream and your help can make it reality.

Purpose
I am excited to venture into a path that enables me to advance my current experience, knowledge and skills. My name is Shivi Maheshwari, I am currently residing in Bangalore(India) with my husband. I am thrilled to have received an offer from Northwestern university for a Masters in Business Management.

I will be utilizing all our personal savings and, am falling short of the funds required to sustain as well as fund my education abroad.

My Journey
I was born and raised in Bathinda, a small town in Punjab-India. It has a poor reputation of having the second-worst skewed gender ratio in India. While growing up concept of working women was completely missing out of my life. All the women I knew of close/distant none of them worked.

In this skewed demographic environment, I was fortunate enough to be raised by a strong mother, who not only celebrated my birth, something unheard of in Punjab, but also pushed me to study and take up a job. My mother had a hard time convincing my family of her daughters career choices. She went way out of accepted norms to send me to undergraduate school outside of Punjab and took all the brickbats from society for making her daughter liberal.Being respectful of her efforts and sacrifices and I worked very hard at my studies and at my Job. I had no option to fail. Failing would mean crushing hopes of all young girls I inspire. Failing would mean that my mother was wrong and society was right.

Being the first generation working woman in my immediate and extended family, I know that good education has the power to uplift and empower women. And with my education this is what I am trying to achieve for myself and help other girls in doing so.
