"Educate the Girl Child", we often hear it but how many times do we practically support it? Do we still worry more about her marriage than her studies? Yes, this the story of an Indian-Middle class family' girl child who dared to set up a goal to pursue her dream abroad. Just like any other person, I also tried to work hard with complete determination and vigor to fulfill my dreams. I have always been a bright student with an excellent academic record which has made my parents and teachers proud of me. For a small village girl to settle in a large town in Haryana, India, it was still a long way to study at a renowned international university without any solid support. After countless ups and downs, it was nothing less than a dream come true when I got an offer of admission from a prestigious university in Canada but unfortunately didn't get any financial aid from the University.
It is true that the whole world is suffering due to the pandemic and me and my family are no different. I also started a job to support myself and my family but I lost it in the pandemic last year. My education loan got rejected from all the Indian Banks and NBFCs due to the low-income scale of my family and not being able to present any security. Due to major financial issues, I am losing hope that I would be able to continue my studies further which is the main reason why I am starting this fundraiser to support my studies. Sadly, it is not possible for me to garner the huge living expenses and tuition fees which my course demands. Having the zeal to achieve my goals, I started my journey in a bit ambiguous way by taking help from some of my friends in the hope of eventually raising funds for myself but the pandemic crisis could not be worse for me.
As a woman coming out from a patriarchal society, I am the first person in my family who started this journey of studying abroad alone. Undoubtedly, I have struggled day and night to achieve this goal of mine. It is still a privilege for me to get admission in Canada but with a melancholic heart, I have to say that I can not afford the total fees of my program even after acceptance. I am enrolled in the Masters of Education in Leadership Program at Acadia University which is in itself a unique course designed for all administrators and leaders of the world. I am particularly interested in the concepts of social justice, empowerment, and democratic action as I wish to bring in the required change in educational organizations by establishing myself as a leader in the future. After seeing the plights of millions of students, I also desire to open my own NGO in the long run.
I request you all to please donate for the good cause. I often wonder why we tend to donate and help only when something bad has happened to someone but if someone is trying to stop anything bad at the early stage then why is not supported enough by people? I only need the amount of three lakhs to continue my dream. All of you are my last hope before I make the final decision to drop out of my college. Every little bit matters a lot, so please come forward and help me in this pursuit in whatever capacity you can.
