“Please Send us More Books”
We knew something had changed the minute we received messages from beaming teachers, informing us their children needed more books for their library! Starting with a small library, the girls from Borkheda learned how to manage their little collection and have begun to grow it on their own. Our first stint started in Kota, when we realized that the Government schools do not have a functioning library, despite having the budget for it. We realized that these children should get quality education and accessibility to libraries even if they are studying in a Government school in a rural town of India. Libraries that are the seeds of collective learning and growing. Our libraries, workshops and storytelling sessions have helped carve spaces where children read, imagine and grow! We aim to improve reading skills, encourage creative learning and empower children through education. This is our small step towards universal quality education.
Just like the school in Borkheda, over the past 3 years, SABIA has reached out to 26,000 children and donated over 15,000 books.
We wish to reach out to more children in the coming year! But this is not possible on our own – we believe in the power of working together and we know that you can be an important part of our journey to help provide systematic solution to our existing educational problem
With the onset of the pandemic, several students have dropped out of schools due to school closures and the digital divide. Our report on the impact of COVID-19 on education reveals that an overwhelming majority of these students are girls. Students from marginalized communities have been affected the most due to persisting inequalities that were never addressed in our country.
We are seeking your support.
We are organizing a fundraiser on November 14th, Children’s Day, to raise INR 15 Lakhs to sustain the following projects we have lined up from Delhi to Bangalore for 2022-23.
By being a part of our fundraiser, you will support 4000+ children and 100+ young women in the communities we are working within. You can be a force for change – donate now on our Milaap link or join our growing team marching towards the reading revolution!:
