My name is Sharath Kumar M and I am currently pursuing PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) in Operations and Supply Chain Management from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Bangalore.
It gives me immense pleasure to inform you that I have been selected for 'Harvard college projects for Asia and International Relations (HPAIR)' scheduled to be held at Harvard College, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA from 14th to 17th of February 2020, by qualifying through multiple rigorous rounds. However, for me to be able to attend this Conference and live my dream, I will need your help and heartfelt support.
HPAIR is an internationally recognized student organization at Harvard college, offering an international forum for exchange to facilitate discussion of the most important economic, political and social issues relevant to the Asia- Pacific Region by welcoming a wide variety of distinguished speakers and future leaders. HPAIR believes that establishing a common ground in Asian-Pacific issues via such a dynamic and innovative process integrates ideas and actions from across Asia, and indeed, the whole world. Past speakers at HPAIR include former President of the Republic of Korea and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Kim Dae-Jung, Governor general of Australia Peter Hollingworth, Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, President of Singapore S.R Nathan, former United States ambassador to Japan John Thomas Schieffer, and former President of Goldman Sachs Philip Murphy.
The selection process and admission to HPAIR’s Project conference is highly competitive and requires qualifying through multiple rounds of knowledge and personality interviews conducted by current students, Alumni and the Professors of Harvard. Every year, a total of 300 delegates (50 delegates in each track) of the highest calibre are selected from across the globe. There are 6 tracks namely Art media & Culture, Energy & Environmental Sustainability, Global Markets and Economy, Governance & Geopolitics, Science & Technology, and the Social Policy & Justice. Further, we will be working under the guidance of a distinguished Professor and an Alumni to evaluate specific issues and develop project solutions that will go on to be implemented/tested in real life cases and scenarios.
On a personal front, I believe that the HPAIR 2020 Harvard College Conference will give me an established platform and opportunity to share my experience and spread awareness on a medical condition, Autoimmune Encephalitis, an acute inflammation of the brain, which is a topic of prime importance in my life due to my personal and first-hand experiences with it. I strongly believe that our experiences can provide great insights into ethical issues, contribute to trial management groups, and get involved with public–patient engagement activities that raise awareness and help to make the after-effects and their handling more understandable and accessible to the general public and patients.
However, as a non-profit organization, HPAIR is unable to provide financial aid to its delegates for their travel, accommodation and related expenses. Therefore, they expect their delegates to raise a portion of their expenditure related to attending the conference through fundraising so as to create an awareness about the HPAIR conference.
The approximate expenditure for attending the conference is as below.,
HPAIR Delegate admission fee - USD 450 or 32000 INR
Flight tickets and other travel (Cheapest) - USD 1300 or 93000 INR
Accommodation in Cambridge, MA USA - USD 550 or 40000 INR
Total = USD 2300 i.e. Appox. 1.65 Lakhs INR
Funds raised through this platform will help me attend HPAIR 2020 Harvard College conference and will boost my career to a great extent by giving me adequate training, guidance, mentoring and networking to help solve grassroots social challenges across Asian countries and international through innovation and growth.
Help me empower others and build our nation through a deeper understanding and provide a chance to solve global challenges at Harvard and replicate them in our society.
I have always believed in the adage,'Dreams don't become a reality until you work hard persistent enough to achieve them'
