On behalf of Mr. Sharad S Khot, I Vinay J Benegal Treasurer of Courage India Cancer Foundation appeal all participants of Milaap to raise funds for a needy cancer patient Mr Sharad Khot and his family.
The family hails from Sawantwadi. Mr Sharad Khot was detected with brain tumor on 07.12.12 MRI was conducted in Goa and they were directed to Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. Operation was suggested, but due to high operation cost and since Operation was not an emergency, they prescribed some medicines. They took 2nd opinion from Raheja and Nanavati hospital and all of them suggested operation and sent them to TATA Hospital. Since it was inconvenient to travel from Sawantwadi to Mumbai and back regularly and since Operation was also due. They shifted to Mumbai in 2013. Mr Khot was old car buying and selling agent and was earning few pennies. This continued for 2 years. But due to rent burden and other medicines cost, funds for operation could not be raised. Mr. Khot suffered from brain strokes in between. Then in 2017 it was known that brain tumor has increased and operation was to be done urgently. Mr Khot lost his control on urine. And finally on 16.10.17 operation was carried out at KEM Hospital Mumbai. Later on biopsy was done and 31 cycles of Chemotherapy and radiation was given but size of tumor didn't reduce. Again they decided to give Chemotherapy 4 days a week. This continued up to Feb 2019. Mr Khot is on diapers, cannot eat and a tube is inserted through his nose and only protien powder is given. Mrs Khot is working as teacher and earning Rs 14000/- per month. Mr Khot's parents also used to stay with them And in Oct 2018 Mr Khot's mother expired due to heart attack and now they had to hire a care taker for Mr Khot. Mr Khot's father again went to his native place And staying alone. Mrs Khot's father and mother came to Mumbai, but her mother is handicapped. Mr Khot has a son who is in 10th std and his school and tution fees also are to be paid. Till now has been debted with unsecured loan of Rs 5.00 Lakhs. Rs 60000/- per month towards rent, medicines, diapers, protein Powder, care taker, food items, education fees, travelling to hospital.
