Life shattered into pieces for Shanku Biswas, a promising 37-year-old man, just when he felt he had landed a decent job and was planning to get married and start a family two years ago. In July 2020, he fell off the second floor of an under-construction building in Kolkata which rendered him paralytic waist down due to a severe spinal cord injury.
He had been bedridden since then, developing bed sores - which cost him his job and whatever hopes he had to live a modest life.
But doctors at Private hospital have not yet given up on him. They believe Shanku will at least be able to sit on a wheelchair which will offer him some dignity to live with for the rest of his life.
Shanku has so far undergone five surgeries including on the spinal cord and to cover up his bed sores with skin grafting, the costs of which have left his elderly mother a pauper. But doctors believe a final surgery and a subsequent rehabilitation package - costing another Rs 5 lakhs - would help him sit on a wheelchair. For that, he needs your support. Please help him so that he can at least live the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
