Hi, my name is SHALINI TEWARI and I’m a resident of New Delhi, originally from a small area of Uttar Pradesh, BALLIA. I recently have been accepted into the MASTER OF RESEARCH (MREs) in Management program at the University of Glasgow, and I need your attention and little help in making me reach Glasgow. Please give your bit as I have to give acceptance to my offer by 13th June 2021.
Coming to the offer I have received, I applied for Ph.D. in management but unfortunately, because of no previous research experience I got the route of MREs followed by a Ph.D. My research area is DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION- INDISCRIMINATION AT WORKPLACE, MANAGING MULTICULTURISM.
Studying such a topic when the whole world is burning because of indifferences is a thing I want to engage myself in. I chose that area to research upon which is exactly a replica of what I’m as a human. The ultimate favorite quote that I always follow is- “ Strenght lies in differences, not in Similarities”. My current research proposal centers around studying diversity across Europe and Southeast Asia. I’m a person who always gets saddened and irritated whenever I hear any news of discrimination anybody faces anywhere whether in the workplace or their neighborhood because of their religion/caste/race/color/gender. These issues should never act as a barrier anywhere, one should never face any discrimination because of these issues. During my postgraduate days, I made sure that I want to work for the betterment of people and the world. I just can’t sit and get angry. I need to step up and do something which needs attention and many corporations have deliberately failed in putting diversity topics on the top of their table. I made myself a promise to bring change in the world and the only way to save people from getting judged/facing any sort of indiscrimination/biasedness because of the reasons they have no control and because of the reason that should never be the “reasons” in the first place. The famous words of Mahatma Gandhi inspired me a lot- “ Be the change you want to see in the world” and without any doubt, we all agree with the fact that EDUCATION IS THE BEST WEAPON. I hope to get your support in making this dream come true where I can work for the people throughout my research journey.
Before making any contribution you all must be thinking about whether she is capable of doing whatever she is saying or not, right? So let me take you to my academic background. I have studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya RK PURAM till XII. In standard Xth, I scored 9.0 CGPA out of 10. I took Commerce with maths as my stream and passed my 12th standard with scoring 95 out of 100 in Business Studies and Economics and became the topper of my school in these subjects. After12th, I got admission into ARYABHATTA COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF DELHI SOUTH CAMPUS in B.com. I was an active student throughout my bachelor's and I graduated by scoring 8.03 CGPA out of 10. I’m currently pursuing a PGD in HR and Administration from TATA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES and my predicted grade is 8.5 here
o move to the UK for my further studies I applied for scholarships but unfortunately got none due to limited opportunities because of covid situation.
I have been an active and intelligent student throughout my academic career and I’m hoping to get a chance to enter the University of Glasgow and make India proud of her daughter.
I have planned to make various flatforms online/offline where people would be free to share their experience based on indiscrimination they face in the workplace so that we as a researcher must be aware of all the happenings and research on them to eradicate it and find solutions.
Studying at a UK university is quite costly and not everyone can afford it. I’m raising this fundraiser because I also come in the category, where giving 35 lakhs is quite impossible and taking a loan includes a lot of risks and financial burden at this age would be a major drawback to my studies.
In my family, my father is a sole earner and besides me, he’s got another daughter to raise. Raising daughters and investing in their education is a thing our society always thinks is useless because in the end daughters will go away once they are married. But the daughters of this generation aren’t stopping and making everyone proud.
While raising us, my father did his best to give us everything we needed but at this point, he is also helpless just like any other parent would be. We come from a middle-class family where studying in India is itself an achievement and forget about going abroad. But I want to move ahead and make everyone proud. I believe financial constraints should never come in between your dreams. My journey included a lot of ups and downs but my father never taught me to stop. Sacrificing such a good opportunity because of financial constraint is not worth it. Please contribute your bit towards my education and allow every girl child to follow her dream without any barrier. Today, I reached out to you because I have run out of options and time as well. I humbly request you to contribute to the best of your capacity and share this fundraiser wherever you can. In case of any query and verification reach out to me @ firstname.lastname@example.org
