HELP SHAILESH RUN FOR INDIA
Shailesh Joon is a Para-Athlete, born and brought up in Gurugram. An incident wrecked his life when in 2007 he fell sick due to meningitis, leaving him half paralyzed. And recently this year unfortunately both his parents died in an accident on March 2019, leaving him with no support and financially weak.
An average in academics like most of us all but outstanding in sports like few. Shailesh has been an athlete since he was 5 years old. His childish passion for running became his drive for life. He played his first nationals and inter-school swimming competition in 2006. He never looked back. His feet always ran fast until his health stumbled. May‘2007 Shailesh fell sick and suffered from typhoid which resulted in ‘Meningitis’. The tragedy took away his control over his body and Shailesh’s left side body suffered complete paralysis. He struggled with his day-to-day tasks due to paralysis but he was adamant on getting back to the field.
They say “Wake up with Determination and Sleep with Satisfaction”. Shailesh started with physiotherapy and with his adamant attitude to get back to the playfield he belongs to Shailesh started to heal. Shailesh took only one year to recover and soon after that resumed his training to become a professional athlete. He made a comeback to his sports career and participated in the Medanta Marathon on 18th June 2011 and secured 5th rank competing amongst general category of athletes.
In 2016 Shailesh Joon played his first Para-Championship and won his first gold in 100 meter, a silver in short put and a bronze in long jump. He was admitted in a government school, near gym khana club, where he met his coach Mr. Mahinder Singh. In 2016 Shailesh ran in Amity Marathon 10K among general category and scored 5th position. The following year he participated again in Amity Marathon 10K securing 4th rank. 5K Decathlon Sohna Road Marathon became winning ground with Shailesh securing gold medal. He participated in Amity Gurugram Marathon 2019 which was a complete 42.195 K run and finished 7th.
Shailesh keeps on running with determination in his heart. It’s time to support and help a fellow dreamer. It’s time to make dreams come true.
Shailesh has been selected in HANDISPORT OPEN PARIS 2019.
The amount to be collected is INR 69000 for registration (excluding his flight tickets and visa expense to Paris). THE LAST DATE for THE REGISTRATION IS 20th JULY 2019.
