THE CONTEXT -
With the outbreak of pandemic when the entire nation is under lock down, one of the most suffering sections of our society is school going children and especially the children in underprivileged communities where families are struggling to meet the ends. These children have missed out on education as they are not privileged enough to have internet or the luxury of attending online classes. Parents, because of financial crisis have started to think that their children should stop going to schools. This way, they can save some money as well as take children’s help to manage financial crises. Since the houses are small and children are losing their study time, there are not enough resources for them to learn actively, they are unable to share their feelings as parents’ financial situations affect them. All these situations affect their mental health and educational growth.
Moving further teachers also are facing financial problems and despite everything they are ready to work for students in half salary. Another layer of this problem is faced by school management. Since last year, school fees around Rs 8 lakhs are due which is going to increase as parents are unable to pay fees this year as well.
IQRA English school is running since past 11 years. This is one of the very few schools in Shah-e-alam community of Ahmedabad. The school is being run with less resources and support from others. It has reached to a difficult phase where it needs the help from the supporters like you.
WHY DONATE TO THIS CAMPAIGN –
Since the time is difficult and Covid 19 has affected each and every individual, IQRA School is letting go off the fees for its students. Teachers are working hard and getting some technical support from senior teachers, but since financial support is minimal, this requires a lot of patience. Since this campaign doesn’t touch just one layer of problem but can bring changes at many different layers, your role and contribution matters a lot. Teachers are also taking online sessions with children but that definitely doesn’t guarantee sustainability. Hence, your smallest contribution will bring back learning to the students, financial stability to the hard working teachers of the school.
