The coronavirus has come across as a test for our strength as a community. With more than a million cases worldwide, the rapidly spreading virus has caused great carnage throughout the world. The real test is faced by vulnerable communities, especially the densely populated ones like India. With more than 3000 cases and over 75 deaths, the numbers are growing exponentially.

To  control the spread of the virus in a country of 1.3 billion people, the Prime Minister announced a 21-day lockdown. The decision was one of urgency, but the sudden lockdown harshly affected the daily-wage and contractual workers. Unable to earn their daily bread and pay rent, they were left with no other choice than absconding to their hometowns. Their plight was exacerbated by the cessation of public transport during the lockdown. These labourers are now unable to afford even one square meal per day.

The responsibility is now on us, as fellow citizens to help the affected members of our community. Millions of Indians living in rural areas require food and medical supplies like masks, hand sanitizers and hand-wash. We need your support to sponsor the Health Kits and Food Boxes we aim to provide for the vulnerable sections of the society. While we the fortunate ones are able to relax at our homes watching tv shows and using Internet, there are millions of impoverished daily-bread earners not able to meet their minimal daily needs. Therefore, it is our duty to reassure faith in humanity by helping the needy.
