Story

As the world comes together to fight against Coronavirus, the state of West bengal, in India, is facing an acute lack of infrastructure to deal with the scale of the pandemic. The state, with a population of 11 crores, has just few COVID-19 testing centre, in that most only in the capital city of Kolkata.

The Chief Minister of the state, Mamata Banerjee, has said on record that the state needs at least 10 lakh Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits, but has so far only received 40,000 such kits from the Central government.

Local reports state that doctors working in the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, one of kolkata's largest government hospitals and NRS medical college and hospital, have started showing signs of corona due to the unsanitised conditions that they are being made to work in.

I'm a native of Kolkata and a graduate from SMU Kolkata and JIS University Kolkata. This is my personal effort to bring together those who feel for Bengal so that we can pull our state out of this crisis.

I would like to raise funds for two primary things:

1) To distribute at least 10,000 PPE kits to doctors and nurses working in the frontline.

2) To at least provide one meal a day to 500 such people who have lost their means of livelihood due to the lockdown.

A little effort from the community in these times can go a long way in helping those who are most vulnerable to the vagaries of these times. Any help or support is appreciated!
