Many daily wage workers and Rickshaw pullers like Sanjay are in grip of starvation due to COVID outbreak. Help them before hunger took them.
Our group Delhi Rikshaw Sangathan started working among Cycle Rickshaw pullers in Delhi in 2014. Though our initiative failed but may be all those efforts might be for today. I recieved a call from Sanjay who was a rickshaw puller in Timarpur region explaining his horrific conditions he has landed himself and his family. Last year he took a decision to bring his family to Delhi so that he can provide better education to his daughters believing anybody who has education from Delhi has better chance of succeeding in life. And moreover he believed her younger daughter can get better treatment for her bent feet in Delhi and can walk like other kids. Though his earnings were meagre but he still dreamed a better future. Then came the COVID-19, lockdown means end of earnings and it pushed the entire family to starvation. Today 27th March is their second day without food. I provided a bit of money for their food but that will not last long and there are many other such families trapped in lockdown in their region only. Please help so that we can atleast provide Rs 5000 per family and save them from death due to starvation. I know it's too little given the scale of clamity but we have to atleast start putting our efforts to fight.
