She felt deep ownership for her work and immense responsibility for the people who worked with her. When the COVID necessitated we shut down our guest houses, she was fierce about protecting the livelihoods of the staff that would be affected. At the same time, Sandra carefully and kindly negotiated with landlords and other stakeholders every step of the way. When we briefly resumed work at client sites earlier this year, she worked tirelessly with her team to check that all safety protocols and approvals were in place before any CST team traveled to a client location.
When she had left the Firm in 2004, Sandra wrote in her farewell note: ‘I really hope to hear that I made a mistake leaving this great place – INO’. Perhaps that is why she returned to us in 2011, and we are thankful she did. Sandra’s younger colleagues attest to the wisdom she imparted on them, and her close contacts remember her for having an open mind, bold perspectives, and a great willingness to learn. Many of us benefitted from knowing Sandra.
