The IMD has issued 'yellow warning' (be aware) in Puri, Kendrapara Jagatsinghpur and Bhadrak districts over the next 24 hours. Similarly, for Saturday, it has issued an orange warning' (be prepared) in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and JagatsingPur district.
Two teams of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and one of the National Disaster Response Force are on standby in each of the districts, while adequate fire services personnel have also been deployed in these areas for necessary operations.
Cyclone Bulbul over the Bay of Bengal has gained strength and intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm, triggering rain in several parts of coastal Odisha and its adjoining areas, an IMD official says.
In view of the IMD forecast Odisha government has announced two-day holidays for all schools and anganwadi centres in three districts of Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Kendrapada and cancelled the holidays of all government employees in the coastal districts till Saturday.
But it more critical for some villages who have loosed everything during Cyclone-FANI. These people are still strugling for food and shelter. They are presently staying under temporary shelter. During this cyclone-BULBUL heavy rain fall has predicted and already rain started. The life of these people will be miserable.
We are trying to help these people to provide Baby food, medicine, polyethene for temporary shelter, Lighting materials (Candle or lantern), drinking water are highly necessary in many areas. After FANI there still electricity to come.
We are focusing the following villages under PIPILI Block, Puri.
