    This fundraiser will benefit

    S Karpagam

    from Mandaveli, Chennai

My auntS Karpagam aged 74 yrs lives with her husband V Srinivasan aged 80 yrs and they do not have children. My uncle retired from a Pvt company and doe not have the benefit of a pension. They are managing the daily living out of the interests from deposits (Retirement Benefits) and also the support of close relatives
My aunt had a fall on 14th Dec 2020 due to which she fractured her thigh bone. We took her to a nearby hospital and the doctor suggested surgery or else she would be bedridden. We consented and the surgery was done on 16 Dec, but unfortunately, the implant migrated as revealed by the X-ray. The doctor said we can go in with a better implant and also said the earlier one had to be removed immediately. Without thinking twice we gave our consent and she was again operated on 18th Dec 2020 at the same hospital. But to our shock, the doctor said the implant has failed again and they have removed all the foreign body and sutured the fractured area in asis whereis condition. She was discharged on 23rd Dec 2020 and was under physiotherapy and traction but in bed.
With the help of our relative who is also a doctor we identified an orthopaedician in Sundaram Medical Foundation upon consultation with him we got her admitted on 2nd Jan 2021.
Upon admission, all the preliminary were done and they found that the sutured portion had a very bad bacterial infection. They had to open the same portion again and cleaned up the entire area and have put her on severe antibiotics which is pretty much on the higher side consider their financial situation.
About INR 4,00,000 have been spent till now, which is the amount contributed by our relatives and well-wishers.
She is out of the hospital and still under medication for the infection. The corrective replacement surgery is likely to be in the 3rd week of February provided there is no infection and her general health improves.
