Roya is a 5-year-old Rohingya child who has recently been diagnosed with leukaemia (in April 2021). Doctors have determined that with immediate treatment, the disease is curable with good prognosis. The treatment, comprising mainly chemotherapy, is estimated to cost up to USD 13k in the first year (this would be followed by RM8k per year for the following three years). UNHCR & Tzu Chi has agreed to fund the first USD 8k. REF hopes to assist with the remaining amount, i.e. USD 5k.Additionally, due to the intensive treatment required in the first phase, Roya’s parents and two younger siblings would need to move from Klang to live near the hospital in Cheras. Roya’s father has not been able to work for awhile due to his illness. We hope to be able to help the family with the transfer and to settle in to KL while his father finds a job.
We are appealing for donations for the funds described above, targeting USD 13k, i.e.
USD 8k for Roya’s treatments (1st phase)
USD 3k to support his family
Additional funds raised will be saved for Roya’s follow-up hospital visits / his family, OR will be passed to other cases REF will be supporting. For queries, please contact Liza @ 01133535004 or Ali @ 0 10 2734 1301. Please help if you can. Thank you.
