ABOUT ROSHANI
Roshani Kumari, a bright, intelligent and passionate student, needs your support as she transitions into Grade 11 (2021-22 Batch). She lives with her family of five in a one-room rented apartment in Sangam Vihar, an under-resourced, low income, and unregistered community in Delhi; with her father working in a medicine shop as the sole earner and provider of the family, they have little to no savings.
As a Teach for India student since grade 3, Roshani has been passionate about making a difference in the world, and believes in the power of community, hardwork and education. In Grade 7, along with a few other classmates and with the support of her fellow from Teach for India, she participated in a DESIGN FOR CHANGE Project, an initiative that aims to inculcate research and problem solving skills in students. Further, she has regularly participated in multiple Math & Science Olympiads and Competitions, won accolades and certificates and has joined coaching centers to hone her English speaking and writing skills as well! She is academically bright and consistently hardworking, having ranked in the Top 10 in her class of 80 students in Grade 10.
Roshani’s Dream
Roshani has a vision: She is determined to be a successful Mechanical Engineer!
She says, “I am very fascinated by how machines work and provide simple solutions to make life easier. I want to use the principles of Physics and Math in my life and design a machine that would make the world a better and easier place to live in. I hope to solve the world’s complex problems by designing and creating machines; it would also be a tangible way to help society. According to me, engineering is a creative profession; people think it is technical, and it is. But we are in a time of rapid social and technological changes, the need for engineers to think creatively is greater now than ever before. This is why mechanical engineering is my dream and the first of many goals I want to achieve in my life.”
And she has a roadmap for her path to success, the first part of which she has already achieved:
Roshani has successfully secured a seat in Vidya Mandir Classes (VMC), a highly coveted and well-reputed educational Institute, training Engineering aspirants to maximize their potential in their school years by preparing them for IITJEE Entrance Examinations. (selection letter attached) Although initially she was entitled to 40% scholarship based on her good performance on the entrance test, given her financial situation, she has secured 100% Scholarship on Tuition Fees.
ROSHANI'S CHALLENGE:
Currently, Roshani and her family do not have access to enough funds to pay for the classes that will help Roshani achieve her dream. Her father earns less than 20,000/- in a month and as the sole earner, most of the money goes into taking care of essentials, with hardly any money left to save. Further, the COVID-19 Pandemic has led to irregular and decreased income.
For the cost of the classes, despite a 100% Scholarship on Tuition Fees, Roshani still has to pay for the Enrollment Fees, Administration Fees, the Online Study Center Fees, the Infrastructure Fees and the Material Fees for two years, which is amounting to INR 1,65,200/- which her family cannot afford.

Thus, to help Roshani take her first step towards her dream of becoming a Mechanical Engineer, by enrolling in VMC, you can donate now! Thanks to the concession made for Roshani given her family’s economic status, VMC has agreed to provide her with a 100% Scholarship on Tuition Fees. Still, she is required to pay INR 1,65,200/- over five installments.
Thus, the amount generated through this fundraiser will be used as follows:-
TOTAL AMOUNT FOR VMC FEES: INR 1,65,200/- (One Lakh Sixty Five Thousand Two Hundred Rupees Only)
