My name is Sujit Barla. I am from the Batabari tea garden of Jalpaiguri, West Bengal and I am a student and a member of the youth group - Prayatn. In January (12/01/2020) in Prayatn, we got information that a young girl of age 20 is severely sick. I visited her and as a group, we have been following her health condition. She wants to live a healthy and long life but due to lack of money is not able to get the needed medical treatment.
Her father was an alcoholic and died 4 years ago. She has 3 more siblings. After her father’s death, her mother had to take care of 4 all by herself. Her elder sister is married and has two children. Her elder brother is also married and has 2 children. They all live in the same household. Her brother is a daily wage (not tea garden) worker with irregular income. Her mother works in the tea garden as a daily wage laborer and financially supports her family of 11 members. Her mother gets Rs 167/- per day and with this income, she has to provide for the food and other expenses of the family. Her mother’s health is also not good and does not allow her to go to work daily; also the payment of wages in the tea garden is not regular. With this low and irregular income, her mother is not able to admit her to the hospital and provide her the necessary medical support.
We (Prayatn) took her to Bishop James Memorial Rural Health Care Centre, Jalpaiguri. Dr. Sushil K. Chacko did the initial diagnosis and has said that she needs to get admitted and the entire medical expenses including hospital bed charge would be Rs 30000/- (Thirty thousand). She is in urgent need of the money for her health and her life. Alone she will not be able to manage the money but together we can support her and help her live a healthy life.
I am seeking all the help you can. No amount is small. I request my friends and family and readers to help us save her life, to donate what you can. Also pls share with your friends and family, help us raise Rs 30000/- for her medical expenses.
