We are a team of seven people teaching in Sangam Vihar, the second-largest slum in Asia.
Our students belong to low-income households, many of which rely on daily wages for sustenance, with usually one working member for (average size) a family of six.
As can be expected, the families barely manage expenses and usually have no savings. Multiple people have lost their jobs and now face the threat of continued unemployment even after this pandemic is over.
Currently, 42% of families are already struggling with food and expenses, with much more likely to run out of all resources by April 20th.
Besides ration and grain, families do not have money for medical provisions, and women do not have access to sanitary napkins.
We as a team are trying to raise funds to help the families in need by providing both financial assistance and access to ration and grains. With the fundraising effort, we should be able to reach out to around 1600 people in the community.
