She has given this school almost a decade of her life, shaping it and creating a solid foundation for the children who desperately need it.
However, today she is the one who needs help.
Last year she suffered through immense back pain for a very long period of time. She could not get through to a doctor due to the lockdown and Covid Restrictions. By the time she was able to get an appointment her pain had worsened and the doctor recommended she go to an oncologist, just to be safe.
She went home to her sister in Mumbai. After a series of tests she was diagnosed with lung cancer. For a while the treatment seemed to be working well, she was responding favorably and her condition was stable. However we suffered a major set back when she started keeping unwell last month, (shortness of breath, body ache, not able to stand at all).
When she went back for her check up, it was found that the cancer has actually spread to her heart and fluid is continuously filling up around it.
And while the doctor did drain the fluid via minor surgery, it was just a temporary solution to the problem. Without chemotherapy there isn't any way to cure her completely
We need help to ensure we can eradicate the illness at its root cause.
She needs to start her chemotherapy as soon as possible. Every delay is another step towards a harder battle on her road to recovery.
