We are a group of students who against all odds have been selected to compete in the National Sekokai Karate Championship to be held in Dehradun, India this 26th October to 29th October. Our teacher and coach Ram Sir has given his all to raise the money required but however, the fundraising has been slow and we are in dire need of the finances to get us to the site of the competition in 2 days.
Our parents are daily wage earners and laborers in Pune and are unfortunately unable to fund our one-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Some of us have been in a Teach for India classroom and we know the importance of seizing an opportunity, working hard, and keeping our heads held high and that is what we do and will do.
There were days where none of us thought we would be fighting our way into any of the big events let alone a National Level, but here we are. We have trained, discipline our body, mind, we have never given up and we really don't want to now.
All we need is your helping hand to finance our travels and entry fee. We promise to give our best and fight our way all the way through.
Here are our names.
1. Ashish Raut
2. Khushboo Jaiswal
3. Khushi Jaiswal
4. Kartiki Shinde
5. Rajveer Shinde
and our coach Ramprasad Sonune.
I have been with these kids, I taught them and they taught me a lot too. I honestly and truly hope you will not give them a reason to give up now. They have done their part, please don't let their dreams die. Karate/Taekwondo has been an escape from reality for most of the kids in their community. Now here they are rising above everything the world held against them. As their former teacher, friend, and sister I am asking you to be their pillar in this tough time.
