The Ramkrishna Vedanta Ashram has been in action for the last 54 years and it serves people with many facilities for both their social and spiritual needs. The ashram has contributed to the social cause of the place and has been active in their social work by serving people in need of natural disasters by donating in relief camps.

About the Project
Ram Krishna Seva Ashram & “Maa Sarada Initiative” for women and child health operates in 15 blocks of South 24 Parganas which include, Thakur Pukur- Maheshtala, Budge Budge I&II, Bishnupur, Namkhana, Patharpritima, Diamnond Harbour I&II, Magrahat I&II, Falta, Kulpi, Kakdwip and Mandir bazar. In our survey we have observed that around 40 km of our ashram there is no recognized medical facilities which are affordable in nature. This project basically bridges this gap of getting proper and affordable medical facilities to the population of this region and also makes people aware of health care practices to create a sustainable development.
Our intensive research put forward the fact that there are 37, 94,285 people living in these fifteen blocks and they require these basic health care facilities and it is not possible for them to utilize these facilities unless they are provided with low cost.
The project will operate in two phase where the development of the health care system will be evident and will be affordable in nature.
Phase 1: To set up Ramkrishna Seva Kendra (A complete health care center with pharmacy available 24x7 with basic health care services and facilities. It will not only serve the people of the 50 sq kilometers which sums up to almost 42000 people but also to the patients referred in our health camps. Following facilities will be present in RSK.
- Eye clinic with cataract surgery facility using PHACO method
- Dental Clinic
- For emergency and overnight patients availability of 2 beds with oxygen
- A specialty clinic with specialist doctors can be consulted in just 10 rupees
- Primary radiology unite with X-ray and Ultrasound
- Fair price pharmacy
- 24x7 Ambulance facilities
Phase 2: To arrange and organise 150 medical camps in the 15 blocks. These camps will basically help to aware the people of the significance of health care and also give them the idea of where to reach in time of emergency and medical help. More than 2000 fake doctors are reported to exist in this area. Thus, this area aims to increase awareness in the region and among the people to maintain precautions and get necessary health benefits frm the appropriate unites. In these camps the following area will be focused.
- 50 eye check- up camps. Free spectacles with lenses will be provided to people with vision problem
- 20 Dental check-up camps. Free medical support and tooth extraction will be done.
- 30 mother and child care camps will be done to provide necessary tips and advises to women and children to have a healthy life.
- 50 general medicine camps will be arranged with at least 2 specialist doctors.
Our Appeal
We have already managed to build the structure of the health care center. However, we are not able to proceed any further due to the lack of funds. The construction requires the above mentioned money to develop the medical center to be specialty clinic with well-equipped facilities.
