As you know, the covid 19 pandemic has created a havoc in the lives of the marginalised and disadvantaged sections. The second wave of Covid pandemic has furthered the economic downfall of the marginalised sections. The unorganised sector has suffered the impact of unemployment which has cascading effects on the incomes and therefore on the capacity of the households to afford basic necessities. We are willing to supplement the underprivileged and Below-poverty line families with the basic necessities based on the requirements of the family.
We are a group of students who are pursuing our graduation and post-graduation. We have tried helping 3 families who lost their daily wage works due to pandemic and leading an extremely miserable life, spending our own savings. But eventually people who got to know about this in our village started approaching us with requests, and we as students coming from middle class families cannot support them all alone. So, therefore we are trying to approach you for help to kindly help us to do something to these families who need a helping hand on urgent basis.
We are planning to provide ration kits to around 10 extremely poor families who we have identified in a tribal village called Devula Thanda Anthampeta, of Marrigudem mandal, Nalgonda dist. of Telangana state. Since the lockdown had started these families, who are basically daily wage workers, rickshaw drivers, rag pickers etc. they are all unemployed and now are unable to afford basic food as they have taken so many debts to survive during pandemic and now none of the villagers are ready to help them, nor give them money as a debt above all they are forcing them to return the money which they borrowed during lockdown period with interest. And a situation created as such, where the money which they are getting through their daily work is used to repay the debts which were borrowed earlier, this resulted to a situation where they are not in a position to feed themselves also their children. Without having a source of income or opportunity to earn, these workers are absolutely helpless and rely completely on someone for their everyday food.
An old lady named Champli who is aged about 55 years said, “Beta, people who commit hinous crimes also get food to eat, but why cant we. Why are we in this position, why is god punishing us like this?”(translated from lambadi) This statement touched our hearts and the terrible conditions which these people are living in made us take a bigger step to do something to help these people We're expanding our efforts as it's the need of the hour. Because as the pandemic persists, so does their hunger. Please help us to feed these people who can't feed themselves and who are not even in a situation to seek help from any one While we request you to donate as much as you can, for the families that are sleeping with half-filled and empty stomachs. Come! Join us! Let's offer a helping hand to the families in need. Please keep in mind that every rupee can help us to fill an empty stomach.
