I Rajesh V Patel, resident of Mumbai, India., Age 54. I am suffering from Transverse Myelitis, a rare neurological condition. It's caused by inflammation of the spinal cord.The swelling damages the nerves and leads to permanent scars or lesions. These scars or lesions interrupt the communication between the nerves in the spinal cord and the rest of the body causing complete loss of sensations, loss of bowel and bladder movements etc

This was diagnosed on 14 Feb 2005. I underwent treatment at Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, where I was informed that I was almost 90% paralyzed due to complete loss of sensations chest down with no bladder and bowel movements, numb legs and feet and that i may never be able to walk again as there isn't any concrete cure for the same in medical science in the world. After being treated for nearly three weeks in the hospital I was discharged home, bedridden for life.

Due to my health condition I had to resign from my job. with only my sister working to support my expenses. Since 2005, she has been single handedly taking care of me and my 88 year old mother, with no support from any one. It has been extremely difficult for her to meet my care taking and medical expenses as I always require 24x7 care taker assistance. I'am also prone to recurring bed soars which require regular medical attention and over a period of time I also incured severe scoliosis of the spine and weak limb bones making it more difficult. She spent all her savings on various modes of treatment for me with the hope of my recovery, but in vain.

With irregular home caretakers and ageing mother it was getting extremely difficult to take care of me at home, so with kind help and support of my school friends, I was shifted to Balaji Health Care center at Vasind, Maharashtra (After Titwala on C.Rly Local Line) where I am currently staying and being taken care of since January 2020. 

At Balaji Health Care the expenses are approximately Rs.55,000 per month. It's a enormous task to accumulate such a high amount to meet the monthly expenses. My school friends, close friends and my sister are trying their best to raise funds to meet these expenses. I kindly request you all to whole heartedly support my cause by helping me to ease some financial stress. Even a small contribution from you'll will help me immensely in paying my bills on time thus making it possible for me to continue staying in the health care centre.
