His story in his words.
I, Rajesh V Patel, the resident of Mumbai, India, Age 52. I am suffering from Transverse Myelitis, an autoimmune disorder which destroys the spinal cord and with no concrete cure for the same in medical science in the world. It was diagnosed on 14 Feb 2005. I underwent initial treatment at Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, where I was told that I had lost my sensations, bladder and bowel movements and may or may not be able to walk again, I was almost 90% paralyzed. After spending nearly a month in the hospital I was discharged home.
At this point I had lost my job because of my health condition with only one family member, my sister, working to support my expenses.
Since 2005, my sister has been taking care of me and my 84 year old mother, we are currently just hand to mouth and unable to meet my care taking expenses as i always require 24x7 care taker assistance. I have also been suffering from regular bed soars which require regular medical attention. In the past 14 years at home, we have spent more than 50 lakhs on various treatments with the hope to recover.
Now that my mother is very old and not too fit to take care of me, With help and support of my school friends, I have been shifted to Balaji Health Care center in Vasind Maharashtra ( After Titwala on C.Rly Local Line) where I am currently staying and been taken care of. Here the expenses are Rs. 50,000/- per month and due to current Covid 19 situation, it is becoming extremely difficult to meet my monthly expenses.
Some of my school friends and close friends are trying their best to raise funds to meet my monthly expenses. I kindly request you all to support my cause by helping me to ease some financial stress on me. Even a small contribution from you'll will help me immensely in paying up my bills.
