Mr. Rajesh Kumar [34 Years old], father of two daughters [11 and 6 YO]
was diagnosed with Covid on December 18, 2020. We Admitted him to Bharathiraja Hospital, Chennai for treatment. He was in ICU for two weeks in Non-Invasive Ventilation support [NIV] where-in his lungs were severely damaged(Approx 80-90%) and the hospital suggested we shift him to another hospital as he needed ECMO LIFE SUPPORT.
We then shifted him to MGM Healthcare, Chennai on Jan 4th 2021. We were counselled by the doctors that they have exhausted all the treatment options and were left with the one and only option of putting Mr. Rajesh on ECMO life support as his lungs were damaged 100%.
He continues to be on ECMO life support even after 50+ days now as on 25/02/2021. The treatment on ECMO is very expensive, costing us approximately 2 Lakhs [2,00,000] INR per day. We have been billed 95,17,936.85 INR as of 25/02/2021. Out of which we have managed to arrange close to 60Lakhs [60,00,000] INR.
But now we are finding it difficult to manage funds for the treatment to keep going until he either recovers or we get a lung for a transplant which could cost us another 75,00,000 INR to 1,00,00,000 INR [1 Crore], making the total medical expenses almost 2,00,00,000 INR [2 Crore].
We look forward to at least 75,00,000 INR so that we could keep the treatment going and pray that Mr. Rajesh recovers and is back home soon, with his family and his 2 little daughters.
