My name is Shreya and I am here to raise funds for my mother Pushpalatha B. She is 64 years old and lives with my father in Bengaluru, Karnataka. She is a housewife. Ours is a typical middle class family.
Some time in mid November, what we thought was an upset stomach very quickly became a matter of concern. Tests showed us that she had a serious haemorrhage in her gut and she was dangerously low on platelets. After a week of tests and daily blood transfusions, doctors suggested that she get tested for cancer.

Naturally wanting the best care for my mother, we decided to take her to HCG Hospital. Unfortunately, less than 24 hours after getting admitted there, she developed septic shock.
Septic shock happens when an infection attacks the body when its immune system is compromised. Her organs started failing and she immediately went on ventilator support and dialysis.
It was only after this that we got her diagnosis - Lymphoma. This is a cancer of the immune system and played a big part in the spread of her infection.
Today she continues to fight for her life. She needs regular dialysis because of the damage her kidneys took. Her ICU costs are something no one expected and the current bill is already way past any savings we have.
