You might all know that the pandemic has impacted severely people from all walk of life, and with the second wave, it has wreaked havoc in rural villages. Cuddalore, is a district in Tamilnadu, where a community of transwomen, who have been either working as sex workers or begging at traffic signals have gone penniless literally over night. They have been managing last one year with donations and provisions that people in and around the community were offering. Shreya, one of the transwomen who we spoke to said that "With the second wave, they are struggling hard even to find meals, many of them have lost their homes, the only ask they have is, to give them the groceries to survive the next few months. Without any proper skills or education, they are lost and have no idea how they are going to survive". Some of them are already down to one meal a day. They are pleading not for anything but just food to survive. Every penny that you donate will help provid food for these transwomen.
Most of them have noone to call their family members as they have been thrown out of their homes. As they dont have valid identity proof, they are not able to procure any government rations either. Even their usual customers have gone missing or refuse to support them, and that has affected them not just financially but also left them vulnerable and mentally devastated.
The money you donate will be used for:
1) Ration &hygiene kit support per person: 1500/- per month for 3 months

Movement Positive is an organisation that builds livelihood programs for vulnerable communities. In the present situation, where even food seems to be a luxury, we first want to provide for their survival and the second phase will focus skilling and training them to find jobs,or earn a respectable livelihood.
