Although the government has tried tons of approaches solve this problem by equipping the dustbins in many other locations of Dumdum, in cantonment however we do not yet have any public dustbins.
There are few dumping locations which are used by locals to throw their garbage. Municipal waste cars do come every morning and take the domestic garbage away but we do not have any options for the wastes we carry outside such as plastic pouches, organic plates etc. Whenever we buy a packet of chips or something else similar we do not find a dustbin around to get rid of it. So either we have to carry it home with us or we have to throw it away in an open drainage system or some place else in spite of being aware about it's harmful effects.
So our plan is to place multiple, small in size and easily accessible dustbins across the Dumdum cantonment area.
We have a prepared an extremely cost-conscious design which can help us produce a dustbin in only ~Rs. 50-60/unit. If we could gather enough fund we can easily cover every corners of this area with such dustbins and we are also planning to credit the local people/donators by their names written on the dustbin itself.
Let's make a beautiful place for our next generation.
We have recently started another social campaign on our YouTube channel for the tree plantation. If you need to know more about it watch this video
