Imagine being born to a destitute family of daily wage workers, grow up with half-empty bellies filled with water, follow in your parents’ footsteps, fight tooth and nail to make ends meet every single day, finally perish unable to show your kids anything but dark skies and bleak futures.

Although this looks like the story of many unfortunate people all over the world, the story of Prema, a 25-year-old daily wage worker, is further shrouded with misfortune and taken over by an ignominious high-risk Choriocarcinoma. The doctors first thought of removing the uterus completely from her body only to realize the cancer had spread to her lungs.Chemotherapy, surgery and radiation are neccessary to get rid of the cancerous cells.

The doctor has given an estimate that each chemotherapy session will cost her ₹ 30,000 and the complete treatment might cost up to ₹ 4,00,000. Robbed of even an opportunity to obtain an education, she doesn’t know what cancer or chemotherapy is. Earning a meager ₹200 a day if lucky, convening four lakh rupees seems a monumental task for Prema and her family.
