Ester Rai (aunty), a mother of 7-year-old daughter Caren, looked after me, my family and my pet Kion for the last four years in Singapore. She is very caring and a chef at large!
Beginning of October 2020, Ester aunty received probably the most shocking news of her life - her husband Prem Tshering Lepcha (Pascal uncle) was diagnosed with Stage 2 Cancer. That was a sorrowful day indeed for us. The silence was palpable and confusing.
Although Ester aunty had renewed her Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) contract with us for the 5th & 6th year, she had no option but to leave us immediately to attend to her ailing husband at home (Darjeeling/India) – who was already going through series of medication as suggested by the Doctors of Medica Cancer Hospital, Rangapani (West Bengal/India)
Prem Tshering Lepcha (Pascal uncle) is an ardent soccer (football) player; works as a part-time cook, catering for events and parties. Due to the recent COVID-19 lockdown across India's states, Pascal uncle suffered a loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, due to his illness, the medical expenses were so high to survive, he completely emptied his bank account. This unexpected turn in life has put them under severe financial liability and personal loans to survive through the costly Tests, Medication, Chemotherapy and Radiation.
I have attached some of the bill below for your reference, the biggest being the Radical radiotherapy (RT) – CT Based (INR 91,000).
As per Doctors of Medica Cancer Hospital, currently attending Pascal uncle, to completely recover from this dreaded illness, Pascal uncle has to go through surgery to remove the cancer-affected area/tissues by the end of this month (March) or early April, depending on the availability of doctor's dates. And for that, they have suggested two different hospitals 1/ Tata Medical Centre (GI-HPB Surgery), Kolkata. (under Dr Bipradas Roy, MS, and MRCS, Consultant, Gastroenterology, Surgical Oncology) or 2/ Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Howrah (under Dr Sumit Sanyal, MS, MCh, Gastroenterology - Surgical, Gastrointestinal Oncology, Oncology). This surgical procedure's medical expense is estimated at INR 325,000 (SGD6,000) – as informed by Medica to the family.
Ester aunty & Pascal uncle come from a needy hardworking Nepalese tribe trying to make their ends meet. Ester aunty has been here with us in Singapore as a Foreign Domestic Worker to support the family – while my family sponsors their daughter Caren's schooling.
On her behalf, I seek your help to raise money to fund the medical expenses to help Pascal uncle recover from his illness. Kindly spread the word to your family and friends to help and support with your generous donation for this cause.
Let us pray for Pascal uncle's speedy recovery!
Lots of love and regards,
