India has a vibrant ecosystem built around its wildlife. The jungles here provide for the community around. The countless people who support us when we visit these jungles to get close to wildlife, the drivers and guides who take it upon themselves to ensure we have the best of outings while always looking out for our safety... are now in dire need of our help.
The Covid19 breakout has had a devastating effect on this population, for which the months March to June are the prime months to earn their livelihood, to see them and their families through the next few months till the parks open again. With parks closing down indefinitely, many ridden with mortgages on their gypsies and homestays, a family to support, not too much forthcoming from the FD, their situation is truly pitiable.
A group of wildlife enthusiasts, led and represented by the core team of Linus Chettiar, Aarti Shenoy, Shankar Ramachandran, Sai Shankar, Amit Subhedar, and myself, have come together to float this campaign.
The money collected through this campaign will be directly remitted to the guides and drivers bank accounts. On the ground, our team of volunteers are in continuous touch with the affected to assess the financial needs and urgency of each individual.
We invite one and all to contribute generously towards this cause.
