Mrs. Pragati Nayak, aged 30 years, was married three years back and has a daughter of 5 months. As a nursing mother she discovered discomfort around her chest. On investigation she was diagnosed with 5th category breast cancer. She was working as a Lecturer in KarunaShanti Residential College for last five years and was the financial backbone of the family. Immediately she was referred to Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai. Amidst the pandemic Corona virus spread she and her family has to fight a three pronged war – get treated to save her life, nurse the baby and get the finance arranged within a short span. Her husband is also a teacher in a private institution who could hardly arrange Rs. 2,00,000 for immediate investigation, travel and lodging to Mumbai and wait for the turn for the surgery. The cancer institution insists to deposit immediately a good amount of money to start the treatment. It is difficult to estimate how much the expenses will be but in consultation with some cancer survivors who have undergone similar treatments feel that not less than 1 million rupees is required. From her provident fund, colleagues, and other sources, the family is hopeful of arranging about Rs. 3 Lakhs. So there will be a need of Rs. 7 lakhs immediately for her treatment such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery. She and her family humbly request all noble hearts to donate generously as much as possible.
