38 years old Sachin was an auto-rickshaw driver, a daily wager, and the only bread-earning member of his family. During the pandemic also, he worked hard day and night to support his family. He was a very helpful person and was always available to his community members. He loved his wife and children very much.
On May 14, 2021, Sachin started feeling breathless and had bouts of fever. Over the next 2 days, his condition deteriorated and his doctor suggested for Covid test. The labs in Pune had a long wait time and by the time he got the results to be Covid-positive, his oxygen level had reached 68. His family rushed him to a hospital on May 17. He was put on a ventilator but could not be saved. He passed away on May 19, 2021. He leaves behind a deeply mourning family: his wife Pooja, 2 kids (ages 10 & 7), and a dependent and ailing mother. His life has been brutally cut short.
He was a daily wager but dreamt of providing the best education to his children. He felt very happy and fortunate that his daughter Tanishka got admission into a private school (The Orchid School, Pune) under the Government of India RTE Act. Tanishka is a smart and intelligent child and we hope that she gets to fulfill her father's dreams.
There were 4 people directly dependent on him - something Pooja will now have to take over. She has a hard road ahead. She is only 27 years old, and is not skilled enough to take up an office job. She is understandably shattered, and clueless about how to take up the baton. She is taking this a day at a time and the premise of looking after her children is keeping her strong. The hardest question she endures every day is from her kids: “Where is baba gone?”. They have been told about his death but it's very difficult for such young children to understand that their father - their hero - is never coming back.
From a happy family to a deeply mourning family in 5 days. While nobody can really ever fulfill the void in their lives, as friends and family, the least we can do is to come together and contribute to safeguard the family’s future and help Pooja raise the kids. No contribution is big or small - please pitch in whatever you can to help.
Funds collected will be utilized to build a corpus for the kids' education and help equip Pooja with skills + credentials needed for the continued sustenance of the family.
