    This fundraiser will benefit

    Pooja Devnani

    from Gurugram, Haryana

My name is Hemant Devnani and seeking your support due to a crisis time in my family. Pooja Devnani, my wife was suffering from an off headache. We thought of consulting a neurologist in a reputed Fortis Healthcare Gurgaon Hospital. The symptoms suggested migraine but to rule out any other factor, the doctor suggested MRI. Pooja suffered from asthma and was claustrophobic. MRI Scan under anesthesia was suggested. Our lives took a devastating turn…..while undergoing MRI, Pooja suffered cardiac arrest and was revived by CPR. This took some time and post revival, she was transferred to the ICU on ventilator support. Since revival took time, it affected the most sensitive organ – The brain.
Doctors were hopeful that she will recover as age is on her side. However, she was suffering from on and off fever due to various infections, continuously on anti-biotics, and no improvement from a neuro standpoint. There were attempts made for discharge, however, had to be postponed at the last minute due to the return of high fever, high pulse rate etc. Finally, after four and half months of hospitalization, Pooja was shifted to intensive home care with all required medical equipment and full-time nursing support.
The hospital bill exceeded Rs. 25 lakhs. Insurance could cover only up-to Rs 10 lakhs. Over and above, my expense on buying medicines and consumables from outside during hospitalization period exceeded Rs 10 lakhs. Now in intensive home care, cost of medical equipment's and nursing support is approx. Rs 1 lakh per month. Visit of doctor, medicines and consumables is over and above.
I have stretched in all possible directions to ensure that I manage expenses all by myself. However coming months seem difficult as my savings have exhausted. I have taken loans / help but still looks like a long way for me to go. This was not something we expected or planned for – nobody can imagine this happening to a healthy, young individual – but the reality is that it can happen to anyone. Pooja has shown some signs of improvement and I need a little bit of support from you to see Pooja through this so that one day we three can get back to leading a normal life. A little help can ensure continuation of medical support at home and bring her back to family and our 10-year-old daughter who has been really missing her.
Thanks for all your help and support.
