Five years back, I started "Kahani Jaani Anjaani" podcast on a whim. Back then the idea was to reconnect with my roots with a language that I really used to enjoy - Hindi.
Back then, it was a very irregular podcast with hardly any consistency. But even with that kind of irregularity and very few episodes, people started reaching out and telling me that the stories are making a difference for them. However, the real journey of the podcast started two years back...
...That was when we were struck by this virus that changed our life as to how we see it today. Back then, people were struggling to understand a disease that they had no clue about a few weeks back. People were scared for keeping their loved ones safe. under pressure of working from home, managing chores and finding normalcy. Understanding how stories can help get people together at this hour, Kahani Jaani Anjaani podcast really kicked off to become what it is today! Devanshi Batra joined me on this journey as the curator and producer of the show.
Every Friday a new story came out with different themes, different worlds and different characters. And for some time, these stories took people away from the pain that they were surrounded by. The journey started with the goal to publish just 12 episodes but our listeners ensured that we don't stop. Over time, we realized that we are not only connecting people to their roots with stories, we are helping listeners with their mental health and also shedding light on the authors of today.
Most people know only a handful of hindi authors when in fact, a lot more people are crafting stories today! These stories were not getting the attention they deserved neither were they reaching enough people. And that's where our mission behind Kahaani Jaani Anjaani became clear - "Bring Life to Lost Stories and Spread Joy for Listeners & Writers across the globe."
Over 100 Episodes, we uncovered stories that are unheard, forgotten or untold. We brought forth voices of new-age authors and put spotlight on stories that should reach more people. We interviewed new & veteran writers to understand their process of crafting a story. We delivered two successful editions of "Ankahi Kahaniyaan", our story writing competition, receiving entries from several first-time writers and gave away cash prizes.
Over the last two years, we have packaged every episode so that our subscribers can experience the true power of audio stories. These stories were not just read, but brought to life using my experience of being a theatre actor and voiceover artist.
Dramatized reading of the stories are done making sure that the characters, the spaces and the emotions come out as true to the story as possible. Apart from this our curation process & author interviews creates a truly audience-focused Show!
