Cyclone Yaas battered the east coast on the 26th of May. It has inundated parts of North and South 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal. Salty, brackish water has inundated parts of villages, and sweet water fishes have died, causing a stinking smell in large parts of some villages adjoining the হিঙ্গলগঞ্জ (Hingalganj) police station. People are unable to access ration. Support from the government is yet to reach.

গৌরচন্দ্র সরদার (Gourchandra Sardar) is arranging ration support for about 100 families in the area for the upcoming days. I will be transferring the funds directly to a ration shop in the area from where he will procure the ration. I have done this before, personally, just after the lockdown was announced in 2020. The people are trustworthy.

We are planning to buy rice, ডাল/दाल/ḍāl/dāl (pulses), potatoes, oil, soyabean.
