Story

I am Shyamala, lives in Kundapura with my husband and with my child Pavan Kumar who is just 4-year-old. My husband is a bus conductor and we come from very impoverished family background.
My 4-year-old child Pavan Kumar is suffering from the disease called “Thalassemia”. Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder wherein the body produces an inadequate amount of haemoglobin. Haemoglobin is a protein molecule that carries oxygen in the red blood cells. This disorder results in the extreme destruction of red blood cells. People born with this disease cannot make normal haemoglobin which is needed to produce healthy red blood cells.
For this disease Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) is to date the only well-established curative treatment for “Thalassaemia” and shows excellent long-term results. Estimated Bone marrow transplantation cost is 40 Lakhs which is quoted by Dr.Sunil Bhat, Director and Clinical Lead. Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation Narayana Health Network Hospitals – MazumrJarShaw Cancer Centre, Narayana Health City Bangalore, India.
This cost of treatment is indeed beyond my means, coming from a poor family background arranging 40 Lakh is not easy task for us as we live with income of daily wages. The only way to get better is by raising fund from helping hands. You can save Pavan Kumar’s life so that he can make difference in another’s.
With your support and help Pavan will soon be able to come back to normal life. Your contribution will add many years of life to this small child and Pavan is seeking your help to have a chance at a better life.
“We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”
Waiting for your support.
Shyamala - Mother of Pavan Kumar
