The following description is by the learners:
"This is fundamentally a Maths class project of a group of Lower secondary school learners to replace the plastic straws used by Low Income Coconut vendors and beach shacks with paper straws.
Often, vendors choose the plastic straws over paper straws because the plastic straws are cheaper and more readily available as compared to paper straws. We will resolve this issue by raising enough funds to cover the cost difference between the paper straws and to arrange a sustainable supply chain between the vendors and the local paper straw supplier.
We are working towards eradicating the pollution created by the use of plastic straws from Goa and then connect with other school learners with our success to spread our mission everywhere.
We have created a long term sustainable project which is structured in a way that can be handed over to a different group of learners at the end of the academic year to ensure the longevity of the project."
