This is a disaster for all, but an opportunity for a few. To come together, to act together, to step forward to serve mankind.
As India faces the severe second wave of COVID-19 with the world’s highest daily cases the present health systems are not able to meet the expectations due to sudden overload. As the days are passing by, we are facing new challenges. Yet we need to stand tall, unite and put our efforts to be together for each other.
The nationwide lockdown during the first wave has already strapped us financially, and now the second wave is adding new figures to it.
Ever since the second wave has hit us so hard our phones started ringing day and night. People from different parts of the country are raising the requirements of food, ration, medical aids, and other amenities. This situation reminds us of Mahatma Gandhi’s words: “When we are keeping ourselves safe at home, we must all be concerned for the safety of the last person as well”.
Determined to move forward to support people like daily wage earners, maids, construction workers, Rickshaw-pullers, Street Sellers, we have activated our network of volunteers and supporters who promptly took steps out for relief work and to rebuild lives.
We opened all possible channels to reach out to the needy families, to meet the requirements of affected people by supplying them with a GROCERY KIT that can sustain their families. Our grocery kit contains sufficient quantities to feed a family with essential items like wheat, rice, oil, sugar, tea, lentils, masalas, soaps, sanitary napkins.
Apart from the distribution of relief kits, we are also creating COVID-19 awareness and benefits of maintaining social distancing, wearing of mask, washing hands, and other precautions.
Through this initiative, we will also strengthen individual social workers, small grassroot NGOs who don’t have a national presence but are involved in the exemplary groundwork to fight COVID-19.
Every contribution, irrespective of the amount, counts. It is time for positive intention to translate into positive action.
Coronavirus is extremely malignant but hunger and poverty have shown for once and for all to be even more dangerous. Hunger seems to be a more serious and grave issue at present than anything else as hunger might kill them even before the virus can.
It was in 2006 that we conceived the idea of ‘Pahel’. Since its inception, we have tried our best to serve back to the mankind. We have majorly been involved in the education and health sector. However, it is often said ‘Drastic times call for drastic measures.’ Presently, the world has been drastically perturbed with the ongoing Coronavirus, COVID 19. Keeping in mind the rapid spread of infection, a 21 days nationwide lockdown was announced. While the lockdown is meant to bring reassurance in our lives, it has proved to be a stroke of bad luck for the weaker sections of the society. It has become a source of hunger, loneliness and haplessness for them.
Nevertheless, the Central governments and the concerned state governments have been consistently doing their bit to address their grievances. Despite all their initiatives, people are facing a hard time. Many in India are facing the rising COVID cases and deaths with loss of daily wage jobs and ensuing hunger.
Our educational activities are on hold from March 24, since when the nationwide lockdown was ordered by the government. We are not able to organise educational activities or classes because most of the children who are associated with us have no gadgets like smartphones or laptops and access to the internet. Every now and then, our phones are getting flooded with texts and calls from those in need.
Determined to move forward to support people including our beneficiaries, like daily wage earners, servants, construction workers, Rickshaw-pullers, Street Sellers, we activated our network of volunteers and supporters to initiate relief work.
We are trying to help the families of these lockdown affected people by supplying them with a GROCERY KIT and other essentials that can sustain their families.
With the help of our grassroots NGO partners and Volunteers in Delhi and NCR we have been able to achieve the following:
· Provided monthly ration kits to 2500 daily-wage families in Delhi, UP & Haryana
· Provided 15-day grocery kits to 1800 adult daily-wage singles in Delhi & NCR
Thank you for stepping up and doing good for those who need it, in this time.
We have been trying our best to help the needy as much as possible but we are looking forward to your support. Kindly donate!
