It was a routine rainy morning in Pune on 4th August. And while everyone was home having a strong, Sunday morning coffee, the Baner-based Prathmesh Park residents could notice water-levels were rising at an alarming rate. A low-lying area in the upcoming hub of Pune, Prathmesh Park is home to a few thousands.
OrugaWorld was submerged to the knee-heights on Sunday morning, and everyone believed that the water levels will recede once rains subside. Monday, though came with a different script ! With the dam water released, and rains showing no sign of respite, the water levels rose to 4 ft from the ground. The slides & swings on which the toddlers made merry were deep buried under water… the benches and the shoe-racks with beautiful paintings were helplessly left ‘garnished’ by muck.
The pre-school & infant care centre needs a lot of support to stand on it’s feet again. The floods have ravaged the play area, two classrooms, study material, and a small office. While the kids are being taken care of in a makeshift camp, the pre-school start-up will need funds upwards of 6 lakh INR to fix the infrastructure. If we all come together to help re-build the OrugaWorld, the infants will get their education & play time back. And a young start-up will get it’s momentum back, and it will be able to shape many more infants lives.
Let’s join hands & #Re-buildOrugaWorld !
