Help Government School Children with Infrastructure
Society is the amalgamation of haves and have-nots. It is haves who have to lend their hands and lift the have-nots up. As Mother Teresa says, “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love”, people having good fortune may not be able to do great things to people in need of aid, but can add up to great things by doing small things with great love.
‘Community Project’ is project assigned to visually impaired candidates who are pursuing ‘Basic Foundation Computer Course’ at Enable India. ‘Community Project’ is all about contributing something to the society in which we live. Community project endeavors to integrate us into mainstream society. Now it’s time for us to contribute at least a little to the society through this project.
For this project, the candidates are divided into four groups with five members in each group. First our group thought of setting up the science lab with some basic apparatus for the school children in any of the school where students don’t have facility of science lab. Pursuing our idea, we visited ‘Government Higher Primary School’ at Suvarna Halli, KGF Taluk, Kolar District of Karnataka. However, the visit to school made us change our idea as we found scarcity of basic infrastructure. Listing out the infrastructure scarcity in the school, we learned that there are around 65 students in the school who don’t have proper basic facilities like benches to sit, bags to wear, white board, sports equipment, lack of books in the library, etc. Setting up science lab in the school where there is no proper facility of basic infrastructures, would be like offering golden plate to a person who has scarcity of food to eat. Hence, our first priority is to provide the school with basic infrastructures and then move to science lab if our financial circumstance permit.
As Helen Keller puts it, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” We as a group of five members, can do very little to the society. But empowered by many kind hearted donors and helpers, can do much to the school we are up to help. Its humble request from five of us to assist us with your support if our project interests you.
