Hyderabad, Jan 2020 – a helpless pup was lying by the side of the road. So many people passed him by some without a second glance, some expressing sadness but quickly moved on but Neo, meaning ‘new’ in Greek, wasn’t ready to give up. A member of Love.Protect.Rescue saw his helpless body and rushed him to the vet. 

His spine was broken, possibly injured by a vehicle or by another dog as a result of which his lower half is paralyzed and he can never walk normally again. He had bite wounds on his groin area and it would have been a matter of time these would become infected.

Neo was too small to withstand the pain & trauma of spinal surgery which was ruled out by his vet, Dr. Abhishek of Cornerstone Pet Clinic.

Once his wounds healed he was moved to a foster home where he was lovingly cared for but his time here was short as his foster parents were moving out of the city. But they say that animals bring along with them their own destiny and so did Neo. Another very experienced foster stepped in and here he remained for 4 months where he met his buddy, Shantanu, another paralyzed dog. Together they kept their foster mommy on her toes till she could no longer handle the two.

And all this while our search was on for a forever home for him. But the lockdown situation didn’t make it easy and Neo moved to his third and now final foster. Yes, you read right. Neo has a lovely place to go to – Haven Animal Welfare Trust in Hoskote, Bangalore. We are working out the timelines and other details of his transfer.

The Animal Care Zone is sponsoring his wheel cart and with this he will be able to ‘run free’.

You have helped us this far and we need your help to get him ‘home’.
Our estimated requirement for him is INR 100,000 (INR one lakh only):
- INR 18,000 – for the first six months at the shelter
- INR 1000 – per month for his food and care for the next six months and
- INR 12,000 – per annum from thereon till he lives (and we know he will live the good life). We are currently raising funds for 5 years.
- INR 16,000  (approx.) – transportation from Hyderabad to Bangalore plus medical check-up before he travels.

His current foster dad has this to say about him: “He’s amazing. He loves the company of humans and other dogs esp. puppies. He is a foodie and a no fuss boy. ”

We will keep you updated on this progress at the shelter as we receive it from them. There will be a period for him to acclimatize himself and settle in. But we know our Neo boy and we know he’s going to fit right in.
