Hello! My name is Neha Gupta and I come from New Delhi. I have been accepted into the MSc program in economics at the University of Mannheim, and I need your help and support to attend!

Fees & Living Expenses:
The total sum of course fees,  semester charges, and enrollment charges comes to 6776 euros (1694*4), equivalent to 6,09,840 Indian Rupees. I have to submit a financial declaration for the same by September 2, 2021.

I am hoping to work part-time to secure my living expenses and other costs, but I really need your support for the tuition fees and blocked account money for securing a visa for Germany.

This is what is reflected in the updated goal amount:
Tuition Fee + Semester fee– 609840 INR
Visa Costs(Block Account): 10332 euros=929880 INR

Total = 1539720 INR
I hope to secure a part-time job so that I can manage tuition fees and living expenses myself but the blocked account charges are very high and my family can't manage such a huge amount in one go.
Even if I manage to secure the block account money through your support, I have the hope to go to Germany to achieve my dreams.

My parents have worked really hard to fund my school fees.  My father works in a private company as a salesperson. He goes beyond anything to support my education. But for my higher education, it is beyond his means and that is why I am seeking your kind support.

Introduction!
Since 2018, I have been engaged in student activism, advocacy, and community building against underprivileged women and children.

After finishing my schooling, I gained admission into one of the best economics colleges, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce. In college, I set out a life and a career plan dedicated to the service of the marginalized and underprivileged communities.

I remember the day while working at Enactus, an international NPO, during one field visit when I and my team after working hard continuously for one year finally set up the education center for nearly 150 refugee children. It still fills my heart with joy when those words strike in my ears "When will you come back again"? from the students at the center. At Enactus, I worked on 3 projects, 1st project was envisioned to uplift women by assisting them to step into the commutation sector with e-rickshaws through micro-financing. The second project was based on setting up a community-driven education center for refugee children and the third project provides cancer survivors with awareness about the disease with an eco-friendly and affordable solution. Numerous field visits helped me to know the community better. I remember, during one field visit, one of our beneficiary ladies came to us and hugged me saying that we have changed her life. This is the most precious memory to me as I knew I was capable of making a difference. As a volunteer at National Service Scheme, I taught second to eighth-graders who struggled with their English and numeracy skills. I would teach around 10-15 students of different grades at one time which enhanced my leadership skills to the best level. The best part of teaching those underprivileged children was that I came to know every child and the problems they go through. Through such bonding, they felt more connected with me as well as they trusted me for what I was doing for them. Along with volunteering, I have been a capable speaker having represented the college at various repute competitions and events both at the university and national level. I have been always active in organizing different kinds of events in college fests which has personally helped me in growing as a leader.

I am changed as a person because volunteering has led me to understand myself and people in a much better way. More importantly, volunteering has resulted in identifying my career path and inculcated motivation in me for having the capability to change people’s lives. My interest in development economics has deepened, and I look forward to studying the subject in college and continuing my volunteer work.

During my bachelor's degree, I worked as a summer intern for the policy think tank of the Government of India (NITI Aayog), where I assisted with research, and analyzed the impact of two Government policies under the Women and Child development division. Working at NITI Aayog taught me the importance of public policy for uplifting the different communities and how to articulate their rights and needs in context with socio-economic policymaking.

After that, I worked for KUTUMB India, a hospitality organization. From developing a policy framework to help migrant workers during difficult situations to personally talk with them, working at the KUTUMB India was an enlightening experience for me.

I continuously engage in volunteering to help people and raise funds for them. To conclude, I have the potential to make a significant change in people's lives through my passion and dedication. I wish to continue my journey with great zeal because there's no shortcut to success.

I have never let my economic conditions become a hurdle in my quest for quality education. I am committed to studying more and exploring my areas of interest (development economics and community development) internationally so that I can work towards the development of India. To pursue the same, I applied for the MSc programs in Economics with the specialization in the development sector at several UK and Germany Universities and received admission offer letters from more than 10 universities. I even received a GREAT scholarship from the British council worth 10,000 pounds for studying at the University of Kent. Simultaneously, I got an admission letter from the University of Mannheim for a master's in economics a specialization in development economics. Due to my financial situation, I could not accept the offer from the universities of the U.K. Thus, I finalized the University of Mannheim as I have the faith that all of you can support me in pursuing my dream.

Research Interests & Life Goals!
I have been working in the field of social work, specifically, community and child development along with a public policy for almost 3 years now, as a volunteer and intern during my school and college days. I am willing to do the same for the rest of my life- to work to empower marginalized peoples and communities and to ensure that our socio-economic policies reach each and every person in need.

Prayer!
I have exhausted all possible funding options. The Covid-19 pandemic has shut many scholarships/funding/sponsorships opportunities, and thus I write to request you to help me fund my education, either through a study grant or a scholarship. Through your support, I will be able to study at my dream university. It will enable me to address issues of inequality in the incomes of people and most importantly poverty which I have pondered upon since childhood. Since I believe that education is the only way to end poverty, this support will provide me immense research opportunities in development economics and innovative solutions for development challenges.

I am attaching my offer letter for your perusal. I would be ever so grateful if you could give your due consideration to my request and help me serve my country in the best possible way I know.

Any contribution will help, and I sincerely thank you if you can spread this campaign, move it through your networks or help in any other way. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at niharikagupta3111@gmail.com, as I would like to be as transparent as possible with this campaign and its funding request!
Warm Regards,
