Death by hunger is India’s tragic reality.

Approximately 19 crore people in India are forced to sleep on an empty stomach. It is intolerable that hundreds of millions of people go hungry in a world of immense riches and resources, where enough food is produced to feed everyone on the planet. Poverty can take your life in a variety of ways. Poverty frequently leads to drug addiction, with family members bearing the brunt of the consequences.
Every day, 3,000 children in the country die as a result of malnutrition. People fail to understand the distinction between malnutrition and hunger. Even now, the government fails to warn people that death by hunger is a painful reality. That's why the cause of death in post-mortem reports is always malnutrition. While the problem has been existing from the start, it became worse over the lockdowns caused due to the COVID-19 Crisis.
As a result of the nationwide lockdown, all daily wage earners, servants, construction workers, and daily labourers who rely on their daily wages to earn their daily bread are left hungry and helpless, as they have no way of feeding their families until the lockdown is lifted and they reclaim their jobs. At the time of a crisis, we as a society failed to help the ones who needed it the most.
On any given day, we, at Prasanna Trust,  provide 5000 to 6000 meals to hospital patients, caregivers, and homeless people who might otherwise go hungry through our ‘Anna Daana- Food for the less privileged’ program.

Who are we?

Poojya Sukhabodhananda established the Prasanna Trust in 1982 as a recognised public charitable trust. The Prasanna Trust seeks to close the gap between the wealthy and the poor by encouraging caring individuals to assist those who are suffering and in need.

Anna Daana: Food For the Less Privileged

Anna Daana, which means "an offering of food," is served every day at the Prasanna Trust for the less privileged. It is the Prasanna Trust’s most widely demanded charitable function. Till date, we have served over 37 lakhs meals and continue to do so. During the COVID-19 Challenge, we fed up to 12,000 people every day by serving food at NIMHANS, Jeyadava, Jayanagar, Sir C V Raman, ESI - Government Hospitals, and Nirguna Mandir. We began by serving stranded migrants, labourers, slum dwellers, and daily wage earners who had been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis- Lockout, Job, and Livelihood Losses. We concentrated on serving children and the elderly. We have served over 1.6 million meals under phases 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of COVID-19. The COVID-19 Challenge became tougher, but our determination to help those in need grew stronger as well. We are now working on COVID-19 Phase 5 – Response & Relief – Anna Daana Services…
In this critical time, we appeal to all of you to come forward and help this noble cause of helping the needy.
