Hi Everyone,
What happened during Cyclone Nisarga?
As we all know, On 3rd June 2020, Shriwardhan Taluka (Raigad District, Maharashtra, INDIA) was badly hit by Cyclone Nisarga. Wind speed of around 120 Km/hr was recorded in the District. By God’s grace, no loss of life was reported in the district. However, it has brought unexpected sufferings to our society. More than 95% of houses got damaged and our vulnerable society has gone homeless. There is no food, shelter, water, electricity and phone connectivity for them. However, our social workers in Shriwardhan have arranged shelters & temporary accommodations for them and they providing food and water for approx 800-1000 people in and around the district area. This is extremely heart wrenching and painful situation for the whole of INDIA.
Who Are We?
We, Labib Shahnawaz Khamkar (son), Bilal Shahnawaz Khamkar (Son), Nazifa Shahnawaz Khamkar (daughter), Wasim Shaikh (Son-in-law) and Sana Labib (daughter-in-law), the children of Late Mr Shahnawaz Khamkar (Esteemed Social Worker) have taken this initiative to raise funds through the social platform (for providing food and shelter) on behalf of our volunteers who are working on the ground. We have a huge network of volunteers, fellows, friends, donors, social workers, police and social authorities who are tirelessly for taking care of the needy people. To name a few, Mr Faisal Hurzul, Mr Ismail Munshi, Mr Gulrez Kazi, Mr Fawwad Arai and many more.
How are we working?
As we have mentioned above, we have a huge network of volunteers back in Shriwardhan. They are cooking food for approximately 1000 people and distributing it to them. There is an approximate expense of ₹20,000 for one time meal for 1000 people. A full day meal costs around ₹50,000. And your small contribution will help us to feed the needy for the next 3-4 weeks. I repeat “every penny count during these difficult times”.
PS.: We are also Thankful to Cheif Minister of Maharashtra, Shri. Uddhav Thackeray for his decision of sanctioning ₹100 Crores as an immediate financial relief fund for Raigad District. The money collected by this campaign will be used to complement the Government's effort to restore houses and provide food to people in need.
