During the Covid pandemic since month of March, community from the slum area of Washim city is passing through awful situation. Most of them are drivers, labors, porters, scrap pickers, etc. Due to lockdown most of them have lost their jobs, rested their businesses, source of incomes or wages with no hopes and threatening future.
Provision of grocery kits and short term aid can no more work as people are losing the hopes.
Through our project, we are intending to make families self-sustained in growing their own food at their own backyard. We will provide them with the kit of plant growing beds and seedlings. Some of them will be provided with Rhinovermi beds and worms so that they can produce vermicompost at their home and exchange it with the one who is growing vegetables. Excess amount of fertilizer they can sold to the market and generate income.
Through this project they not only can starts growing own vegetables/food but can restore their hopes of living.
By growing own garden, one can tackle the depression and this is must during this pandemic. Through various programs and interaction with community in slums by UVS team in the last 2 months, it has been observed that making the people to grow own food can be a great idea not for short term goal but for long term objectives.
We need fund for six month of duration to serve 250 beneficiaries. Project is proposed to start on 1 Sept 2020.
