I AM MUTHUKUMARI FROM ETTIMADAI, COIMBATORE. The idea of Project “Feeding From Far” is to connect the concerned privileged class, who want to help, with those who need help. The residents of PATHUVAMPALLI, KALIYAPURAM an area that is practically un-accessible, are predominantly daily wage workers who have been unable to feed themselves and their families since the lock-down.
Before we could set up the kitchen, these families went without food or food supplies for nearly a week. Since the time we have set up the kitchen, we have been able to prepare, pack, and deliver to the doorstep, a minimum of 1000 meals each day. But this is not enough. The identified needy from this area is nearly 10,000 individuals. What we have started is required to be carried forward so that we are able to feed the entire population.
So far we have raised Rs. 5 lakhs through friends and family. This helped us set up the kitchen and start serving two meals a day to nearly 750 people for the past one week. Our per meal cost is Rs. 30, which includes VEG SALAD (rice 50% + 20% vegetables + 20% pulses + 10% masala/flavour) and meal per person. The said amount is also inclusive of our set up cost, volunteer food, kitchen, etc.
