Most children in India lack necessities, as basic as a desk. They sit on the floor with their backs hunched for a long time leading to bad posture, poor eyesight & lack of concentration which affects their ability to learn.
The lockdown forced children to continue learning at home, where they cannot afford desks and instead, they need to crouch and squeeze themselves into uncomfortable positions for long hours to read & write, making learning difficult.
We realized this problem and came across an effective and convenient solution using recycled cardboard. We intend to provide them with sturdy cardboard desks which are inexpensive, durable and made out of recycled materials that will help improve posture and concentrate better on their studies.
Like a teacher plays a critical role in shaping students’ academic learning, a favourable environment is also essential for holistic development.
To realize this dream, we need your help!
We intend to reach 10,000 students in the first phase, distribute the desks through shelter homes, govt. schools and communities across the country and continue to develop the product, keeping in mind the evolving needs of children.
The total cost of the desk is Rs. 250, which is inclusive of cost of cutting, pressing, production, distribution, delivery and impact measurement of these desks directly to the children.
This would not only help the children to study comfortably at home where they need more than a pencil and paper to practice writing alphabets or solve a numerical problem, but the desk is also portable, foldable and lightweight enough that can be carried to school or tuitions.
For the privileged, an opportunity to sit on a chair and study on a desk is a bare necessity, but for these children, it is a luxury that is not easily accessible. Things we take for granted, is a basic need for them.
Your contribution of Rs. 250, can help children like Prem study comfortably and perform better in academics.
Take a step now. Because that, will help a child take a step towards brighter future.
